KYIV

Kyiv is the capital and the largest city of Ukraine. The city is also a political, economic and cultural center of Ukraine.

It lies in the North –central part of Ukraine on the hills of Dnipro river, in a rich agricultural and industrial region.

Kyiv is one of the oldest cities of Europe. It was Founded more than 1 500 years ago. There are a lot of interesting and historical places in Kyiv. Landmarks of Kyiv include St. Sophia Cathedral, and The Golden Gate by Yaroslav the Wise, both completed in 1037, the Monastery of the Caves, which also dates from the middle ages, and some others.

There are many monuments in Kyiv. The Monument T. G. Shevchenko, the grate son of Ukraine, is in front of the Kyiv University, which is named after him. The monument to Bohdan Khmelnytsky stands on the square opposite the Sophia’s Cathedral.

Our capital is a major industrial center that includes companies specializing in electronics, engineering, aviation, food, chemical production, etc.

There are many higher educational establishments and hundreds of schools, a lot of cinemas, clubs, hundreds of libraries and museums.

Kyiv is very very beautiful city , too. The picturesque green parks and hills, and wonderful beaches of the Dnipro , the Khreschatyk, one of the widest and most beautiful streets of Ukraine, lined up with modern buildings are to add much to the beauty of our capital.
